Login problems generally fall within three categories:
You don't have the login id you thought you had.
The fact that WAM says your personal e-mail address is
jjohns100@bigred.unl.edu does NOT mean that the login id actually
exists.
Your login id is NOT equal to your email address. Your login id is the
part of your email address to the left of the at sign(@).
Your login id needs to be typed in using lowercase ONLY. Do NOT capitalize
ANY part of your login id.
Your password wasn't typed in correctly.
The CAPS LOCK might be on. Passwords are case sensitive.
When your login id was originally created the password could have been
written down wrong. It is very difficult to distinguish between the
digit 1 and the lowercase letter l. The same problem exists between the
digit 0 and the uppercase letter O.
Your password has expired.
BIGRED passwords are set to not expire.
To fix these problems:
Click on Manage my account under the Accounts menu at left.
This will take you to the What About Me server (WAM), log in there using
your 8-digit NUid number and 4-digit NRoll pin number.
Once logged into WAM, click on Addresses under My
Records.
Click on the Click Here button under Big Red E-mail
Account
If you don't have a BIGRED login id you'll go to a page creating one.
If you do have a BIGRED login id you'll go to the BIGRED e-mail account
maintenance page. Once there your BIGRED login id will be displayed
and you will have three choices:
Reset Password - Reset your password to your 8-digit NUid (on your Ncard).
Rename Login Id - Change your login id on BIGRED to something
different. Everyone gets to change it once no questions asked. You
will need a reason the second time.
Change Mail Forwarding - Request that new mail coming to your
account be forwarded to a different email address.
