How do I change my password?
First, changing your password assumes you know what your password is currently. If you do not know what your password is currently then click here for instructions on how to reset your password. Changing passwords is implemented using a standard called poppassd. UNL's webmail(Horde/IMP) uses poppassd as does Eudora, NUPOP and many other email programs. The instructions here are for UNL's webmail. Log onto your account via Webmail at left. Click on Change Password on the menu to the left. It has a little padlock icon next to it. You will be prompted for your current password and for a new password. Passwords will NOT be visible, they will be displayed as asterisks(*). This ensures that someone cannot get your password by looking over your shoulder. However, if you happen to have the CAPS LOCK key on or have your hands positioned wrong on the keyboard then you may be typing something different from what you intended. So, it asks you to retype your new password and will not accept the new password until you can type it the same way twice. Once you change your password webmail automatically logs you out so your new password is verified immediately. If you can't log back in, don't panic. Just reset your password and try again, checking for things like CAPS LOCK or your hands being positioned wrong. Current password limitations on Bigred:
